The World Week of Italian Cuisine reaches its second edition with the aim of promoting Italian culinary traditions and food-and-wine connoisseurship as a distinctive trait of Italian identity and culture.
Key points of the second edition are: combining “high-quality cuisine and wine”; promoting regional and food-and-wine tourist itineraries; focusing attention on training in the hotel sector, to developing long-term cooperation between Italian and international chefs.
For the second edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, we will bring again to Kolkata, like we did last year, a number of chefs from Italy to offer to Kolkatans the original flavours and tastes of the Italian gastronomic tradition from different Italian Regions like Tuscany, Lazio, Sicily and others. The chefs, working in the supporting hotels, are: Mauro Ferrari (Hyatt Regency), Mariagiustina Campagna (The Oberoi Grand), Vittorio Greco (ITC Sonar), Giovanni Porretto (Taj Bengal), Enrico Bricarello (Swissôtel), Marialuisa Lovari (HHI), Andrea Misseri (Novotel).
Kolkatans will have the chance to taste every day during the week special Italian menus in the partner restaurants. Moreover, a Gala Dinner will be organized in the Consulate on November 20th, showcasing to a selected public the capabilities of our chefs.
The program of the II Week of Italian Cuisine in the World includes also interaction between the chefs and the students of the International Institute of Hotel Management, to train the future Indian master chefs to Italian techniques and ingredients. To end the week, we will organize a special night mixing Italian food and drinks, fashion and arts with the cooperation of a local fashion designer.
